Beautiful People SG Ltd
building mentoring relationships that change lives. The people who are the Beautiful People family journey together to
pursue and fulfill dreams. Launched in 2006 as a befriending programme reaching out to disadvantaged teenage girls, we have
since developed new programmes which take our mentoring programmes into residential rehabilitation homes, schools, the
prison and homes. Beautiful People was awarded the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre’s President Award for
Volunteerism (Informal Group) in 2013. In 2015, Beautiful People became its own legal entity, Beautiful People SG Ltd. In 2
Beautiful People launched our first mentorship programme for boys “Heroes’ Journey”. We believe that is equally important to
nurture boys who will grow up into supportive brothers who care for their sisters, responsible fathers who take care of their
families, courageous men who make a stand for the women in their lives. We are committed to mentoring because we believe
that in the simple idea that dreams come true because of someone who believes in the one who dreams.
Intended use of funds through the YFC 2018 programme
Funds raised for Beautiful People are used for our mentorship programmes in the following areas:
a. ‘My Beautiful Life’, our flagship programme launched in 2006 (as of 2016, we have a version for young men, ‘Heroes’ Journey’). This is a year-long structured mentoring programme in our partner residential rehabilitation homes that connects mentors and mentees through facilitated big and small group discussions in self-awareness, self-esteem, building social networks, setting goals as well as conflict and stress management.
b. Free For Good, a pre-release mentoring programme for female prisoners.
c. Baby Reader was started when we noticed our mentees starting families of their own. Mentors and mentees share advice on their parenting journey creating better lives for the younger ones.
d. Young Leaders is where our mentees are groomed to be facilitators and mentors themselves in time to come.
e. Our Graduate Mentoring Programme is the latest initiative in our movement where we maintain and grow our relationships with mentees post-discharge from the residential rehabilitation homes.
f. In addition, we have a Dream Fund which helps fund educational pursuits of our mentees in a 50-50 or 80:20 ratio.
Engaging and involving the YFC participants
1. Meet & Greet Session
The YFC Team will be invite to attend our mini Meet & Greet session. We will introduce the Beautiful People’s background, vision and programmes.
Mentors and mentees also will share their experience and mentoring journey to help the YFC Team to understand our programme. They will find out more about what Beautiful People is all about, what we are seeking to achieve, and what we stand for.
2. Beautiful People Family Day on 12 May 2018
The YFC can join our Young Leaders to plan and organize our annual Beautiful People Family Day. Every year, Beautiful People and its stakeholders will hold a family day. This year, the family day event will be carried out by young leaders who were previously from the programme at welfare homes under the guidance of mentors. Apart from holding a family day for bonding amongst beneficiaries from different homes, their respective parents and volunteers, its ultimate aim is to increase youth participation. At the end of the family day, it is to bring people closer to one another. In this event, our Big and Little sisters families regardless of language, race or religion will come together to celebrate the relationships that they have forged!
