Description of Organization

Our organisation’s mission is to serve the community in respect to the needy and the environment. We believe in providing love and care to the elderly in our community especially the residents in our two Homes – The Lions’ Home for the Elderly in Bedok and in Bishan in the form of finance and visits. We also visit the elderly under the umbrella of the Befrienders in the one-room flats. Basic necessities and food are distributed to the residents.

Intended use of funds through the YFC 2023 programme

We will try to help the individuals when the need arises eg. a mattress was bought when we discovered one resident had no mattress to sleep on. Our regular programmes include visits to the elderly during Chinese New Year periods with goodie bags and angpows. We also help in taking the young in certain communities. Care for the environment is also one of our projects. We donated story books to the orphanages oversea.

Taking part in litter picking and recycling is also in our programmes. Every year our organisation will a cash donation to the 2 Lions’ Homes. We will advise the administration in charge to buy equipment that are needed for the Homes needed to be used for the elderly.

Engaging and involving the YFC participants

We can plan a day for the volunteers to visit the Homes and interact with the elderly. We will be having a party for the elderly, hopefully by that time, we will know if we are chosen as a VWO. The participants can be involved in the programmes we have organised. It will be such an honour if we can ignite the young in their passion to show compassion and love for the elderly as Singapore’s “golden hair” is increasing.
