YFC 2017 List of Approved Voluntary Welfare Organisations
Over the past 13 years, the Citi-YMCA Youth For Causes Programme has had the privilege of partnering with youths to benefit over 150 Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWO). According to the Ministry of Social and Family Development, a Voluntary Welfare Organisations is defined as a non-profit organisation that provides welfare services and/or services that benefit the community at large.
Each organisation must have a valid Institute of Public Character (IPC) status and the approval of the YFC Secretariat.
Here are some of the guiding questions that your team should ask, as you select your VWO this year:
- Different VWOs meet different needs, such as Children, Youths, Elderly, Special Needs, Animals and Environment. Therefore, what cause are you passionate about?
- What is the mission and programmes of the VWO? As your team is supporting that organisation, your proposal and project is should align with their mission and objectives.
- How will the VWO use the money that you raised?
- How can your team help the VWO through your self-initiated project, in terms of the mobilisation of public awareness, funds and volunteers?
