The Star Shelter
The Star Shelter is a temporary refuge for women and children who are survivors of domestic violence. It is a place where they can heal from the trauma of abuse and be empowered to rebuild their lives free from violence. The shelter takes a holistic approach in helping all residents, providing them with basic needs such as safe accommodation, clothing and food. Alongside practical assistance and case management, the Star Shelter aims to build our residents’ resilience and self-confidence through therapeutic programs such as counselling, group work and art therapy. Through our Rebuild Program, low income families receive financial assistance, in the form of transport allowance or home set-up fund. This caters to residents who are emotionally and psychologically ready to integrate back to the society in a violence-free home.
The Star Shelter requires continuous funding to support its operations, outreach activities, and engagement of our residents in various volunteer-led enrichment programs to improve their physical and emotional well-being. We hope that with the continuous financial support generously given by individuals and organizations, more women and children of the Star Shelter will be empowered to break this vicious cycle of violence and be steered towards the rebuilding of their lives.
