What We Do

Citi-YMCA Youth For Causes (YFC) is a community initiative by Citi and the YMCA of Singapore since 2002. Funded by Citi Foundation, the programme is a catalyst to promote social entrepreneurship and community leadership development among Singapore youths. It provides youths aged 15 to 25 with seed funding, resources and guidance of selected mentors, to execute sustainable social entrepreneurship ideas and business models that benefit and support Voluntary Welfare Organizations (VWOs) of their choice. In teams of four, the youths will learn to budget, raise funds, mobilize volunteers and increase public awareness for the social causes of their VWOs.

You get what you give.

In a world where providing for others is often thwarted by our daily obligations, the act of giving is a wonderful assurance to those daunted by everyday difficulties.

If we could, we would do more. Right?

Well, if you have a burning passion to help, here’s your chance. Turn your passion of social causes into reality.

The Citi – YMCA Youth For Causes is an opportunity to develop the youth in Singapore toward being socially conscious individuals. It is a platform to allow youths to execute business plans to raise funds, spread awareness and educate the public about various social causes in Singapore through a tri-partnership with VWO representatives, corporate mentors and youth participants!

Volunteer Mentors with a Passion - Empowering the Youth to Serve

100 teams will be assigned to 100 mentors and hand-in-hand teams will achieve the best they can for the causes they support. A Volunteer Mentor is a trusted Advisor, Teacher and Supporter to a group of young Citi - YMCA Youth For Causes participants, nurturing them into our community leaders of tomorrow.

Mentors will have at least 3 – 5 years working experience or possess relevant experience in a related field such as teaching, youth work or in social enterprise. By being a volunteer mentor, individuals will get to work closely with teams to help them achieve their goals while teaching them about lessons that cannot be taught in the classroom. Partnering VWOs in Youth Development - Together we Empower Youth to Serve

Together with teams’ volunteer mentor, you are Empowering each of them into community leaders of tomorrow. By partnering with Citi-YMCA Youth For Causes, VWOs will be able to access an avenue for resource and capacity building for the organization and its volunteers as well as raise more funds. Through the individual projects, VWOs will also be able raise awareness and educate the public on their causes. Not forgetting the prospect of developing a sustainable business idea to support the organization in the long run! Contact us to find out more.
