– To undertake activities that promote the general well-being of people with diabetes or are at risk of diabetes
– To strive to remove prejudice and ignorance concerning diabetes.
Our Mission Statement
To raise awareness and to provide education, counselling and support to people with diabetes, their families and the community in order to empower them to lead a healthy and productive life.
Intended use of funds through the YFC 2019 programme
We intend to use the fund raised through YFC 2019, for use in our public outreach efforts at engaging the public to take on more proactive and participative roles in Singapore’s national-wide efforts at preventive diabetes management. These include our quarterly comprehensive preventive diabetes management classes, and our numerous roadshows with fellow community organisations such as the Community Centres, religious organisations, and even statutory boards
Engaging and involving the YFC participants
YFC teams will get to conceptualise and implement their own fundraising and outreach initiatives and provide support to the ones managed directly by Diabetes Singapore. During these events, they will interact with diabetes patients, caregivers and medical professionals, having a firsthand opportunity to listen to the testimonies of these members directly involved in diabetes care and management, letting them have a better idea of the complexities and challenges in this issue. From there, they will brainstorm to explore what fresh ideas and point-of-view they are able to contribute to Diabetes Singapore’s cause.
