Description of Organization

Established in 2008, the Singapore National Paralympic Council represents Singapore in the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) as well as other international sports federations for athletes with disabilities. Our mission is to promote Singapore’s Paralympic aspirations by providing opportunities for athletes with disabilities to realize their full potential at international platforms including the ASEAN Para Games, the Asia Para Games with its junior equivalent, the Asia Youth Para Games, the Commonwealth Games, and at the apex, the Paralympics.

At the same time, we work closely with international and local affiliates, sports organisations and partners to build Singapore into a world-renowned disability sports hub of excellence and inspiration.

Intended use of funds through the YFC 2023 programme

The SNPC will be embarking on a year-long fundraising programme beginning with a Charity Cocktail Reception on April 30, 2019. The fundraiser is a gathering to recognise the 10 years SNPC has been active in the local community and how the SNPC has transformed and impacted the lives of individuals with disabilities. The fundraiser will set the stage for SNPC’s next journey towards Tokyo 2020, championing the Paralympic values here in Singapore.

As such, the funds raised through the YFC 2019 programme will be a great addition to the fundraising initiative for this year as it allows us to raise for the upcoming games and strengthen the Paralympic values locally.

Engaging and involving the YFC participants

YFC participants will be exposed to para-athletes’ training, able to interact with para-athletes on their sports journey as well as to develop a further understanding of the challenges and rewarding factors through frequent discussions with the staff at the organisation.
