Description of Organization

Equal ARK Singapore Ltd is a charity with IPC status, offering animal-assisted services to youths, persons with special needs, families and the elderly to equip them with life skills and support social integration.

At EQUAL, we help our beneficiaries develop their social-emotional skills such as managing impulsivity, building confidence and renewing one’s sense of purpose and identity. We do this with the help of our rescued equine and canine partners which are also our beneficiaries. Together we transform the lives of both our human and animal beneficiaries through animal-assisted services to build resilient and inclusive communities so that we empower vulnerable persons by enhancing their social-emotional well-being and social integration into the communities.

Intended use of funds through the YFC 2023 programme

The funds will go towards EQUAL’s programmes for our beneficiaries, welfare of our animal partners especially the horses, and the running and operations of our organisation and premises.

Engaging and involving the YFC participants

The YFC participants will be given a kick-off briefing on how EQUAL helps our beneficiaries through animal-assisted services. They will have the unique chance to come up close to our animal partners and see our programmes in action. They will have the opportunity to help through stable activities such as caring and grooming of horses (including mucking up, showering of horses). They will also learn from experienced equine trainers and programme instructors on the understanding the behaviour of horses, learning soft skills such as communications and empathy and how these help beneficiaries with different needs or disabilities.
