Description of Organization

Established in March 2000, the Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore), also known as MDAS, is a non-profit social service agency formed by a group of caring and concerned individuals to support persons with Muscular Dystrophy and their families facing the life-threatening effects of an incurable and debilitating condition. MDAS was subsequently registered in June 2002 as a charity and is a full member of National Council of Social Services (NCSS), recognised as an Institution of Public Character (IPC) status.

MDAS is committed to uplifting the lives of children and adults living with Muscular Dystrophy (MD). As a specialised group, we understand the challenges they faced, and as such, our programmes and services are aimed at enhancing the quality of life of our members and their families too.
These range from life-skills training, enrichment, sports, health education, counselling, physiotherapy, respite care, wheelchair-accessible transport to financial-related assistance.


Intended use of funds through the YFC 2022 programme

With your generous support, we will ensure a sustainable and comprehensive care plan built for persons with Muscular Dystrophy and their families. donation. The will go towards supporting MDAS’s operating expenditure in providing programmes, services, all supporting costs for over 500 beneficiaries and sustaining its operating activities.


Engaging and involving the YFC participants

We hope to turn the YFC to our regular volunteers and to share with them on the misconception with disabilities and muscular dystrophy. It will be an additional value add to better understand society.

We will invite them to our events and activities such as power soccer, boccia sessions, fundraising events and volunteers events etc.
