Description of Organization

“ACRES is a pioneering charity and Institution of Public Character, founded by Singaporeans in 2001 with the aim of advocating an end to animal cruelty in Asia. We hope to create a caring and socially responsible society where animals are treated as sentient beings.

We have six focus areas: Tackling Wildlife Crime, Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, Coexistence with Singapore’s Wildlife, Humane Education, Community Outreach and Promoting Cruelty-Free Living.

This year, ACRES is focusing on promoting public awareness on living in harmony with our native wildlife, so as to reduce the need of wildlife rescue and to keep our wildlife protected in Singapore as well as speaking out about the usage of glue trap. We would like to urge your team to work around ideas to support this goal of ours, i.e. to enable public to be aware of the threats our wildlife is facing currently, what they should do upon encountering wildlife, and how they can support ACRES in protecting our native wildlife.

We rely heavily on public support and contribution to continue our mission of ending the exploitation of all animals. We need funds to continue our 24-hour rescue efforts, care for the rescued illegal wildlife at our centre, publish reports and most importantly, raise awareness through educational materials and campaigns so as to enable a better life for all.

Intended use of funds through the YFC 2023 programme

Food for our 120 residents of tortoises, turtles and iguanas as well as rescued Singapore’s wildlife on rehabilitation prior to being released back to the wild, medication for Singapore’s wildlife whom are rescued and injured, expand ACRES Sanctuary for rescued Wild Animals and continue to send non-native/ native rescued Wild Animals back to their origins.
