Description of Organization

Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter (OSCAS) is a registered charity and non-profit
dog shelter that has been in existence since 2006. OSCAS occupies 7 units at The
Animal Lodge at Sungei Tengah. The number of resident dogs ranges from 80 to
90, depending on the rehoming and attrition rates.

Key Programmes & Activities:
1) Rescue
The principal conviction of OSCAS is not just to rehome healthy, young dogs. We
believe that our doors should be open to help all dogs in need of help, so long as we
have the space and the financial capability to do so. This commitment has always
been the cherished wish of both our founders, Anita and Mary. The core principle is
that “every dog deserves a second chance to experience love, care and protection”.
Hence, we have under our care strays and abandoned dogs in need of palliative
care, unwanted senior dogs with medical issues and skittish dogs who should be
given a chance through rehabilitation programmes.
2) Rehoming and Rehabilitation
OSCAS has a team of dedicated and experienced volunteers who work tirelessly to
rehabilitate the dogs in collaboration with professional trainers who are appreciative
of our cause.
The dogs are given every opportunity to socialize through regular outings to places
like Sembawang Park where there are 2 dog runs, sea sides, swimming at
commercial dog swimming pools, and even to Sentosa and Botanic Gardens.
Potential adopters are thoroughly vetted and matched keeping in mind the dogs’
individual personalities and needs.
3) Palliative Care
OSCAS is home to many senior dogs with health issues. OSCAS is committed to
providing them the best possible medical care, love and comfort for the rest of their
natural lives.
4) Education and Outreach
One of the key goals of OSCAS is to help to create an inclusive and compassionate
society towards animals. As children are the future of every society we believe that
all efforts should be made to guide them towards this goal by helping them to learn
the value of unconditional love. This includes spreading awareness through our
social media platforms and also holding talks and presentations with schools and
other institutions.

Intended use of funds through the YFC programme

Funds raised from this programme would be used for the general day to day operation of the shelter including rent, salaries and medical expenses of the dogs under our care

Engaging and involving the YFC participants

The YFC would be invited to our shelter to have an understanding of how we operate. They would be encouraged to volunteer with our shelter by walking, bathing and interacting with our dogs
