Description of Organization

Beyond Social Services is a community development agency dedicated to helping children
and youths from less privileged backgrounds break away from the poverty cycle. We adopt
an asset-based community development approach and seek to provide support and
resources that enable families and communities to care for themselves and each other.

We are currently operating in 68 public rental housing blocks with a view of facilitating
mutual help and cultivating a strong community spirit among residents. We believe that
when more residents begin looking out for each other, their efforts will go some way
towards creating a neighbourhood, where children and youths are resilient against negative
influences.

We envision a Singapore where low-income individuals, families and communities can
marshal goodwill across society to live purposeful, satisfying, and hopeful lives. An inclusive
Singapore that continues to remove barriers impeding the dignity, progress, and integration
of the poor.

Intended use of funds through the YFC programme

All funds will go towards supporting programmes run by Beyond Social Services.

Engaging and involving the YFC participants

A briefing will be provided to the teams at the start to introduce Beyond and the work we do.
We will ensure the teams are given proper guidance throughout the period of their projects
and endeavour to engage the teams should there be suitable volunteering opportunities
available.
